The Rebellion’s favorite Christmas movies

For many people, Christmas is a time of joy, giving and spending time with family members. During this time, people also have a lot of spare time.

Many people spend this time doing Christmas related activities, such as watching Christmas themed movies. To help you find your next favorite, the Rebellion staff compiled a list of its favorite Christmas movies.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

This film earned its spot on the Christmas tree, because it’s not a stereotypical Holiday movie; it offers a twist that isn’t all snowflakes and magic. It also features a unique and catchy soundtrack.

Tim Burton’s, “The Nightmare Before Christmas” is a film that highlights a series of adventures following Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloweentown. Throughout these adventures, he discovers Christmastown and he meets his love interest, Sally.

The Polar Express (2004)

This film earned a spot on the Christmas tree because everyone grew watching up it and reading the book version of it. The movie brings a well-known childhood book to life.

“The Polar Express” is a film following a boy in doubt about whether or not Santa Claus is real or not. He journeys to the North Pole on the Polar Express and meets new friends, an old hitchhiker, and even Santa Claus himself.

Elf (2003)

This film is featured on the Christmas tree because it is a genuinely funny movie featuring well-known actors. It not only features the acting and comedy of Will Ferrell, but it also includes jokes that appeal to both adults and children.

“Elf” is a film following Buddy the Elf, a normal man who was raised by elves and is on  a journey to New York to find his real father. Upon finding his father, Walter Hobbs, Buddy tries to fit in and live a normal life in New York.

It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)

This film gained a spot on the Christmas tree because it’s a classic movie that many people and their parents, and even their grandparents have seen. It teaches people who watch it a good lesson about life.

“It’s a Wonderful Life” is a film following George Bailey as he experiences a rather terrible day full of problems. As he decides to jump off a bridge and end it all, he is stopped by his guardian angel, Clarence, who shows him what his town would be like without him.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)

This film made its way onto the Christmas tree because it is a children’s movie showing that love can turn evil into good. The big green Grinch played by Jim Carey and the wacky design of Whoville really brings the cartoon version of the story to life.

“How the Grinch Stole Christmas” is a film highlighting the life of a green Grinch who does not like Christmas. He and his dog Max sneak down to Whoville to ruin Christmas when they encounter a young girl, named Cindy Lou Who, who is determined to make the Grinch like  Christmas.
