Being home from school for five weeks may seem like the total dream to many students; however, serious cabin fever can come along with it, especially if school is called off due to the outbreak of a virus.

Due to the fact that all Boone County schools are scheduled to be closed to students and switching to nontraditional instructional days until at least Apr. 20, here is a list of some ways to cure cabin fever.

1. The first way to cure cabin fever is to get school work done. This may seem obvious, but staying on top of schoolwork and keeping up with due dates can help students to keep their grades up for when Boone County schools return to having traditional school days.

2. Another way to survive cabin fever is by cleaning and organizing. It’s never too early to start spring cleaning. A cluttered space leads to a cluttered mind, making it harder to learn, so cleaning up a workspace is always a good idea.

3. Although many gyms and other places to get active may be closed, exercise is still a very important aspect of everyday life. Many creators on Youtube and other social media platforms offer at home workout videos that are worth a try. One Youtuber, Pamela Reif, posts various at-home workout tutorials which can be found on her channel.

4. Another thing social media can offer is recipes. Try a cooking or baking tutorial or even create your own recipe. You can even document it and share it with others.

5. Try reading a new book series. Although all Boone County Public Library locations will be closed until further notice, they offer an online collection of apps with ebooks for people with library cards on their website. You can find the online collection here.

6. Try watching a series of movies or the movies for a “universe.” The 25th James Bond movie, “No Time to Die,” was set to come out in April but has been pushed back to November. Try watching all of the James Bond movies. Another option is watching all of the movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe from the beginning. Between Disney Plus and Netflix, all of the movies are available to stream, and watching them all will allow you to see all the details that come together in “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame.” There are many guides about which order to watch them, but here’s one of our favorites.
