Boone’s strict dress code needs a change, and allowing pajama pants is the solution.
There is not a good reason to prohibit pajama pants, and letting students wear them will result in better engagement in class, and permit an affordable style.
Pajama pants aren’t inappropriate. The pants don’t show off any unnecessary skin or have any holes, they fit appropriately to our bodies, and the characters on them are usually kid cartoons.
Unlike most of the other things teens wear that show off skin or do not fit their bodies appropriately, pajama pants don’t do that.
Not only are pajama pant appropriates, they also help with better engagement in the classroom. Getting up in the morning is a struggle for a lot of teens due to working late and after school sports.
Sometimes it is easier to put on pajama pants and a hoodie that matches it, making it easier for teens to wake up to get ready and be more engaged in class.
Also, the pants are really easy to style with all the different colors and patterns which makes it easier for the students to get dressed in the morning.
Students should be able to feel comfortable at school, so trying to take away our ability to wear things to make us feel comfortable is not good for the students.
A lot of kids have sensory issues and do not like the feeling of other pants. It is important for the school to make sure the students are safe and comfortable at their school.
Taking away the one thing that actually makes them feel comfortable will make students not want to attend.
Additionally, some kids may not be able to afford jeans or other types of clothing, but pajama pants are more affordable than a lot of the other pants that are allowed.
Boone allows the students to wear sweatpants to school, which makes is hard for the teachers and administrators to tell if the student is wearing pajama pants or not.
Sweatpants and pajama pants are both mostly made up of cotton, and they both have the same comfortability as each other.
What’s the difference between the two types of pants?
It is understandable that one is made for athletic wear and the other is made for sleeping, but the pants feel almost the same and some people sleep in sweat pants too.
Trying to prevent students from wearing pajama pants to school will also not help the problem of students sleeping in class.
No matter what a student wears, if the student is tired, then they will sleep no matter what they wear.
Boone’s spirit shop has an option to buy pajama pants, but we are not permitted to wear them to school.
If they are allowing the spirit team to make these items to support our school, then why can we not wear them to school?
It does not make any sense why we shouldn’t wear them to school because they are a certain type of pants.
Obviously the spirit team is not making crop tops and short-shorts, so why make a piece of apparel that we should not wear?
The Boone dress code says “Wearing of non Boone County spirit wear is prohibited at all times.” That apparently applies to everything but pajama pants.
It is reasonable to not allow students to wear other types of pajamas like night gowns and onesies, but there is no reason to not allow pajama pants at school.
