As summer approaches and temperatures start rising, nothing beats the taste of a cool refreshing popsicle on a hot summer day.
From childhood classics to gas flavors, our newspaper staff tried a variety of popsicles to determine the best. Each was rated on a 10 point scale, with 10 being best.
Twin Pops

Twin pops are a well-known frozen treat, and one staffer said that the double sticks make the popsicle look super “classic.”
These two popsicles are joined together, making them perfect for sharing or enjoying both at once.
There is a wide variety of flavors. The smooth texture and the refreshing taste is so perfect for a hot summer day.
Scribblers

Scribblers popsicles capture the whimsical and fun part of childhood. These popsicles are uniquely made with fun colors resembling crayons which intrigued the eyes of the staff with a sense of nostalgia.
Someone in the newspaper staff mentioned how this popsicles color is similar to a “muted 70s earth tone.” Each bite delivers a mix of fun fruity flavors.
The cheesy joke on the end of the stick was a funny and pleasant surprise after finishing the popsicle. This fun fruity crayon like popsicle is perfect for kids or just a hot day.
SpongeBob

SpongeBob popsicles have a creamy texture and have the taste of a sherbert or soft ice cream.
“The only thing is they melt very fast and it makes it harder for you to eat,” someone from the staff said.
But many said they still love this popsicle because of its bright colors, great taste, and how much it reminds them of their childhood. It’s one of those of popsicles someone would chase an ice cream truck for.
Freeze Pops

Nothing compares to the way freeze pops hit after being in the summer sun all day. Freeze pops are a must get every summer, no matter what age.
The popsicles, produced in a variety of flavors, lowkey melt too fast, but some say that it makes the eating experience more enjoyable.
Tearing a freeze pop open is instantly refreshing, whether it’s after the pool or while chilling outside. The staff also enjoyed the plastic casing that made these mess free.
Trolli

Trolli popsicles are straight up chaos but in a good way. They hit you with that sour kick right away, and then melt into a sweet fruity flavor.
The colors are all types of wild: bright pink, blue, and green, all swirled together like tie dye. Each bite tastes like gummy worms, but even better because it’s cold which a staff member says is perfect for a hot day.
“The texture is very different as it is soft and a little chewy, similar to a gummy,” a staff member said.
Bomb Pops

A Bomb Pop is a fun and colorful frozen treat that brings out a burst of nostalgia with every bite. Shaped like a rocket, its layers of red, white, and blue offer a fun mix of fruity flavors, like cherry, lemon, and blue raspberry.
The icy texture is so refreshing and the newspaper staff enjoyed the “kind of like Icee’s foamy texture.” However, the artificial-tasting flavor threw a couple people off.
Fudge Pops

This delicious treat combines softness and sweetness in every bite. Its creamy texture just melts easily.
The rich chocolate doesn’t overbear the cool and refreshing flavor, but the chocolate might be a little too simple for people who prefer more complex desserts.
As for looks, this popsicle might be a little off-putting. “Stick with a bit of brown thing is not very appealing,” one staff member said.
The sweetness is balanced, offering the pleasure of both refreshing and comforting. Ideal for enjoying on a hot day.
Strawberry Scooter Crunch Bar

Many staff members mentioned how biting a Strawberry Scooter Crunch Bar is delicious and sweet. The outside has crumbly vanilla bits that give a sweet crunch before they melt. Next, the creamy vanilla center is cold, smooth, and tasty.
Lastly the strawberry swirl running through it is sweet, tangy, and full of real berry flavor. Besides taste, this treat came off as “eye catching” to some of the staff which is one of the many reasons people enjoy this popsicle. It’s perfect fir a glimpse into the summer.
