Beginning at the end of school, Boone County will begin another round of construction that is expected to be completed by August of 2023. It will feature remodeled classrooms and other improvements.

Students may feel like Boone has been under construction for a long time now, but even more construction is scheduled to happen and it may have exciting benefits for students.

The next phase of construction is scheduled to start at the end of this school year, but some may be happening before that date. The construction is tentatively scheduled to be completed by August of 2023, according to principal Timothy Schlotman.

What exactly is going to be under construction? Most of it will be in the back of the building.

Schlotman said that all the restrooms on both floors in the back of the building will be “completely remodeled” which includes getting enlarged, which may help with a crowded bathroom problem.

Almost all the rooms on the first and second floor in the back of the building are getting remodeled and “should look brand new” according to Schlotman. Some of the newer rooms—like the art room and science rooms 121 through 124 on the first floor—will not be renovated.

It won’t just be the back of the building getting renovated: rooms 200 through 206 in the front of the building will also be remodeled. Some of the areas that are getting construction have not been updated since the building opened in the 1950s.

Most of the building will see some changes, but students might not notice all of them.

New LED lighting and flooring will be installed throughout the building. The entire building will be rewired.

There will also be upgrades to the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, with work being done to the outside units to improve the services to the building.
