“The Mandalorian,” set in the canon universe of beloved sci-fi film franchise Star Wars, follows the narrative of a skilled bounty hunter known simply as “The Mandalorian” or “Mando” as he journies throughout space fighting aliens, flying spaceships, and finding unlikely companions along the way.
The show, which can be streamed on Disney+, has garnered praise from critics and fans alike through its impressive fight choreography, high-value production, and engaging storytelling.
Though most recent additions to the Star Wars franchise have been met with mixed reception, most fans agree that “The Mandalorian” is nothing short of remarkable; as such it has quickly skyrocketed to the most watched series on television and currently has a formidable IMDB score of 9/10.
Because of its uncompromising one-liners and intense gun fights, the show’s plot often resembles that of a spaghetti western film, a notable influence that coincides with the original Star Wars trilogy.
This resemblance between the original films and “The Mandalorian” is what makes the show so great, providing a nostalgia factor with Easter egg references to movies like “A New Hope” and “The Empire Strikes Back.”
While “The Mandalorian” is already well into its first season, viewers needn’t worry, as plans for season two have already been confirmed by the show’s creator, Jon Favreau.
In addition, a second Star Wars TV show following fan-favorite character Obi-Wan Kenobi, is set to begin filming sometime this year.
